Privacy Policy

Thank you for playing BrainyGoose ("the app", "we", "us"). We built BrainyGoose to be a fun, private little puzzle game. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other information that directly identifies you.

This policy explains what limited data is collected when you use the app, why, and who processes it on our behalf.

The short version

• No account, no login. We never ask for personal details.
• BrainyGoose is free. There are no ads, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases of any kind.
• Your game progress stays on your device. Levels, diamonds and notes are stored locally and are not uploaded to us.
• We use privacy-friendly, anonymous analytics to understand how the game is played (for example, which riddles are hard). You can switch this off in Settings → Privacy.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites, we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not share data with data brokers. That is why the app shows no tracking permission prompt — it has nothing to ask for.

Information collected

1. Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog to understand how people play, so we can improve the puzzles. This data is anonymous and includes:

• A randomly generated device identifier — a random ID stored on your device. It is not your name and is not linked to your real-world identity.
• Gameplay events — such as which level you reached, how long a riddle took, hints used, and whether a level was solved.
• Device and app information — device model, operating system and version, app version, language and region.
• Approximate location (country level) — estimated from your IP address. Your IP address itself is discarded and not stored with our analytics; only a coarse location such as your country may be recorded.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or files.

This identifier is generated by the app and is specific to this app. It is never combined with data from other companies, never used for advertising, and never passed to a data broker, so it does not let us — or anyone else — follow you across other apps or websites.

Turning it off: analytics is on when you install the app. Open Settings → Privacy inside BrainyGoose and switch off "Share anonymous usage data" to stop collection immediately; the app also clears the stored identifier when you do.

2. Advertising and purchases

There are none. BrainyGoose contains no advertising, no advertising SDK, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases. The diamonds you earn in the game are a free in-game reward and cannot be bought.

How we use this information

We use the limited data above only to:

• keep the game working and fix bugs; and
• understand which riddles are too easy or too hard, and improve the content.

We do not sell your data.

Data stored on your device

Your progress, diamonds and scratch notes are stored only on your device. If you delete the app, this local data is removed with it.

Children's privacy

BrainyGoose is a general-audience puzzle game and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to certain processing. Because we store no account and no directly identifying information, we usually cannot connect analytics data to a specific person. If you have a request or question, email us and we will help where we can.

Data retention

Anonymous analytics events are retained by PostHog for a limited period in line with their standard retention settings. Local data lives on your device until you delete the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
